National University were off to a good start. They were getting easy baskets right off the bat, until UE's signature full-court press did it's work. The Red Warriors were forcing the Bulldogs to turnovers thus closing the gap for UE.
Co-captains Alfred Aroga and JJ Alejandro were doing most of the work for the Bulldogs but they're getting production from 2nd year Point Guard Rev Diputado and Matt Salem -- who transferred from De La Salle University to NU.
It was also the UAAP debut of Batang-Gilas member Josh Sinclair for National University. Though he clocked just 2.83 minutes in his first college game, he scored his first field goal and grabbed 3 boards.
UE meanwhile was all about playing D the entire game, contesting every shot the Bulldogs take. Albeit their defensive efforts, they still lost to NU 72 - 66.
The Red Warriors' Edson Batiller was their designated scorer dropping 18 points along with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. Rookie Alvin Pasaol added 10 points, 6 rebounds for UE.
Despite limping in the 4th quarter, Center Alfred Aroga still managed to finish the game with 16 points, 13 rebounds, 2 assists and a steal for the Bulldogs. JJ Alejandro on the other hand, chalked up 13 points 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
